“Urban Transformation. A Common Cause? Warsaw / London / Tricity authorities, business, culture, residents”
Debate featuring Polish and British experts on the topic of urban transformation.
Date: June 7/ 2024
Venue: Hotel Warszawa
Panelists from Warsaw, London, and the Tricity:
In Poland, discussions often oppose the interests of developers and business representatives to the needs of residents, revitalization efforts carried out by city authorities, combined with the process of engaging the local community, utilising cultural tools, and the presence of so-called creative industries. Thirty years of a free market, increasing public and private awareness of the need to consider diverse needs, and the audible voice of residents — some problems and discussions remain unchanged. Can examples from London, a city of dynamic change and clashing interests, inspire us in any way?
Participants will try to answer questions about how to build a shared vision, how to include various stakeholders, what tools to use, how to implement bold architectural plans, how to execute business plans, and at the same time create good spaces for residents with public functions.
