On November 18, 2024, we celebrated the launch of PLANTATION by Alicja Patanowska, the first artist installation in the new Urban Farmer Project. 🌱
Located in the heart of Fleet Street Quarter, this stunning installation transforms 200 upcycled vessels into a live hydroponic artwork, blending art, sustainability, and innovation. Visitors can marvel at plants thriving in glass-porcelain hybrids, designed to inspire both eco-conscious living and creative expression.
The event featured speeches by The Lord Mayor Alistair King, Taz Khan from London Community Kitchen, Lady Lucy French from Fleet Street Quarter, and Oliver Hunt from Landsec. Attendees also enjoyed a showcase of the Urban Farmer Kitchen’s deliciously sustainable creations.
The project continued on November 21, 2024, when Alicja Patanowska transformed her stunning PLANTATIONinstallation into an immersive workshop experience.
Guiding participants through the art of hydroponic planting, Alicja demonstrated how to use handmade porcelain and repurposed glass vessels to create sustainable, living artworks. Attendees not only crafted their own seedlings but also explored the deeper connections between creativity, sustainability, and nature.
The day was further enriched by meaningful conversations over lunch, surrounded by the beauty of Alicja’s installation—making for a truly unforgettable experience.
On December 12, 2024, we gathered for an evening of conversation and Christmas festivities in the heart of Fleet Street Quarter at the Urban Farmer Project. The night celebrated our shared commitment to sustainability, community, and the future of these values.
The evening began with an insightful panel discussion featuring the brilliant Lady Lucy French, Alicja Patanowska, and Tony Chambers. Reflecting on Fleet Street Quarter, Lady Lucy French remarked, “We are the custodians of a rich area that has been transformed over 2,000 years.” Alicja Patanowska echoed the importance of nature and community, reminding us that “nature and community are the most important parts of the city; to share and care is the core of this.” Her PLANTATION installation embodied the idea that sustainability is not just a goal, but a joy we can cultivate together. Alicja added, “Through this, we can envision a future where success means more nature in the city—more trees, plants, animals. It’s not a luxury, but a responsibility.”
Tony Chambers’ passion for revitalizing this historic district was felt deeply by the audience, making the conversation as inspiring as it was energizing.
Here’s to a brighter, greener, and more connected 2025. Thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed to this important conversation, and celebrated together—we had an unforgettable time!
